The area
Freeport is the peninsula that reaches into the bay west of downtown, built out on reclaimed land. The cruise terminal, the marina and Bogue Lagoon are all here.
It is unusual in Montego Bay for being flat, planned and surrounded by water, which is why apartment blocks and townhouse schemes sit here in a way they don't on the hillsides.
The Houseboat Grill, moored in Bogue Lagoon, is on this side of the city.
